Sybil Jason (1929 - )
Born in Cape Town, South Africa. With the 20th Century-Fox Shirley Temple phenomenon in full swing, all studios in Hollywood were trying to find another Shirley. Sybil Jason was the Warner
Bros./First National child star. Sybil was very cute and a fine little actress, but it seemed nobody could dethrone America's Princess. Ironically, Sybil's final films were Shirley Temple vehicles
(and her only films available on home video).

shake of her hips. Performed and recorded with her own group The Exciters.

Al Jolson (1886 - 1950)
(aka "Jolie")
Given name: Asa Yoelson; born in Lithuania or St. Petersburg (sources vary).
Began in Minstrel Shows. One of the most beloved pop singers of all time; often referred to as
"the world's greatest entertainer." After years as a major stage star, he was the first major
singer to appear in a full-length feature "talkie" (The Jazz Singer, 1927). After a good
run of movies in the 1930s, his style became dated and he moved to radio, where he was, once
again, very popular. He remained a major radio star until his death in 1950.
Just some of the all-time great songs associated with Jolie include "April Showers," "Avalon,"
"California, Here I Come," "My Mammy," "Rockabye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody," and "Sonny
Boy."
His life story was presented in The Jolson Story and
the sequel, Jolson Sings Again, with Larry Parks playing
Jolson, lip-syncing to Jolson's own voice. One of the greatest entertainers of all time!
